MineClub Online – Nationwide Minecraft Sessions

Bringing the MineClub experience to kids all over South Africa!

Over the last few months, parents from across South Africa have been asking how their children can join our popular MineClub days. As our MineClub Lab is based in Cape Town, it’s not possible for many families to travel here, but the good news is that we’ve found a way for everyone to take part.

We’re excited to launch MineClub Online, a safe and social Minecraft experience where kids can log in from home and join a dedicated MineClub server filled with fun, friends, and optional challenges.

How It Works

  • Sessions last 3 hours, enough time for building, adventuring, and social play.
  • Cost: R150 per child per session.
  • Facilitation: Kids from our Cape Town Lab (aged 6 – 12) will join online and help guide the play. They act as “peer facilitators,” showing new members the ropes and helping set challenges.
  • Parental Role: Parents are asked to keep an eye on their little ones at home to make sure they follow the rules.
  • Play Style: This isn’t a class, kids are free to play as they wish. Facilitators introduce optional challenges (e.g., treasure hunts, build contests, mini-games) to keep the fun flowing, but joining in is never compulsory.

The MineClub Charter

We want MineClub Online to feel like a friendly playground where kids can relax, play, and make friends. To make this possible, we ask every child (and parent) to agree to our MineClub Charter:

  1. Be kind and respectful – no insults, bullying, or bad language.
  2. No griefing – don’t destroy, steal, or mess with another player’s builds.
  3. Team spirit – help others, share resources, and include everyone.
  4. Play fair – no cheating, hacking, or exploiting glitches.
  5. Listen to facilitators – they are there to keep things fun and safe.
  6. Parent supervision – parents or guardians must keep an eye on their child during the session.

Anyone breaking the charter may be removed from the server to protect the community.

Getting Started

Parents will need to set up a few basics before their child’s first session:

  1. Minecraft Java Edition License — Each child must have their own paid Minecraft account (Java Edition for PC/Mac). You can purchase this from https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-bedrock-edition-pc or through the official Minecraft Launcher ($30 USD) .
  2. Minecraft Java Edition installed on a PC or laptop.
  3. A PC or Laptop, Minecraft Java Edition runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  4. Stable internet connection.
  5. Basic familiarity with logging into Minecraft.

We suggest you give yourself a few days to setup your childs computer as you will not have enough time setting it up on the day.

Once your child is signed up, you can connect them to our test server to make sure all is working as expected (srv1.mineclub.co.za:25567). If you can access our test server, you will be able to access our MineClub servers.

For your child to access our worlds, you will need to provide his MineCraft character name in order to whitelisted for the MineClub session. At the end of the session, access is restricted again (the whitelisting is removed).

Tech Support Option

We understand that setting up Minecraft for the first time can be confusing. That’s why we offer a Tech Support Add-On for parents who would like us to get everything ready.

What we can do:

  • Help you purchase and activate a Minecraft Java Edition license.
  • Install Minecraft on your child’s computer.
  • Configure the game and connect it to the MineClub server.
  • Test everything before the first session so your child can jump straight into play.

How it works:

  • Support can be provided remotely via AnyDesk (with your permission).
  • For Cape Town–based families, we may also offer in-person setup if needed (and if available).

Cost: R250 once-off (remote setup) / R650 (in-person setup in Cape Town).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My child plays the Bedrock edition (phone, tablet, Xbox, etc.). Can they join?
For now, MineClub Online is on Java Edition (PC/Mac). If there’s enough demand, we’ll look into running a Bedrock server too.

Q: My child is new to Minecraft. Can they still take part?
Yes! Beginners are welcome. Our facilitators and other MineClub kids will help them get started.

Q: How do you keep kids safe online?
The MineClub server is private and whitelisted — only registered members can log in. Chat is monitored, and parents supervise from home.

Q: What happens if our internet cuts out?
Your child can log back in at any point during the session. No problem.
